Back from the second day of sevens

Exhausted but content. I had a great time at the games today. Well, we got there in the afternoon, say 3ish, and just got back at close to midnight. New Zealand crushed Argentina in the final match, although things got a bit rough with an Argentinian player being ejected from the game for some misconduct. The AllBlacks put on a good show for the stadium, and with all that cheering for the home team, (and booing for Argentina) of course they had to win.

USA got crushed by Japan! Basically, USA was crushed by pretty much every team, but we still gave them a good cheer.

Kenya just all around rocked. I got some good footage of the game that I will upload later, and some clips of the victory dance. The fans just generally like Kenya, and with the effort they put into playing the game, how could you not.

Things in the stands got a bit interesting on day two. A few giant beach balls started getting tossed around the stadium, a big blowp whale or shark was tossed, then tennis balls, then water balloons, then just plastic beer bottles. It got a bit out of control at one point with someone in the stands not taking too kindly to being sprayed with water, and he started letting a few beer bottles go at the dude that sprayed him.

I hope Rugby takes off in the States, it is far more fun to watch than pretty much any other popular sport in the US. Aside from say, BasketBall, which is always fast paced, high scoring, and strategic. Rugby sure beats gridiron football by a longshot in my book.

After the game, we walked to the wharf to watch the fireworks for Chinese New Years. They were great, long lasting, and well planned.
