mid october
mid october and i am back in melbourne working on some interesting network and application stuff; caught up with david, steve, and a.j.; ate some dinner at a korean bbq place (which name kinda escapes me), but I think it was called Kimchi Grandma. Interesting conversation that night involving flea bombs from japan, Israeli army, IPv6 allocations and should we care about penultimate hop popping with mpls; blah blah .. anyway the korean beer was good and the squid with spicy sauce was quick delicious. Plus, I am always fond of dipping into sauces with lettuce. Let us eat lettuce.
Earlier that day, popped out for a coffee (coffee #2 of the day) with Dave S. and met up with some ALU architects. Melbourne is a happening place and I am finding quite a bit to do so far. Stocked up the apartment with all sorts of niceties in the snacking and relaxing genre.
Tomorrow is going to be great as Jenny arrives and she will finally see the place.
Oh and the Telstra USB HSDPA modem is pretty awesome. Excellent speed and it was even good when I fired up Zoiper (IAX voip client) and connected up the Asterisk at home. Worked like a charm. The downside is the data cap is rather small, but considering the market that they are targetting, its certainly worth it for the business traveler in Australia as well as the world traveler, provided HSDPA is getting rolled out worldwide. I suppose Tmobile may be providing it in the USA, although I really have lost track with US mobile networks in the past couple of years. I tend to just top up Tmobile prepaids when I get back to NJ and NY.
