enjoying the sunshine

What a wonderful day today was. A brilliant blue sky, no clouds to be seen, warm weather that fills you with hope. I woke early, picked things up around the apartment as the real estate agents were stopping by with prospective clients.

Had a productive day at work, looking GE IQ pic buffer sizing, random quirky things like graceful restart of routing engines, and bidirectional forwarding detection protocols. BFD is an interesting protocol. It really makes sense to detect failures in network links or forwarding planes in the shortest amount of time possible. It would be interesting to see if this would scale on servers as well. For example, if you had servers that ran BFD between themselves and their next-hop router, you could have link detection to the final destination, the content server.

Enought about that, like I was saying, the weather was awesome today. After work I was thinking about going to the gym, which is only across the street and up three flights of stair. But how could I pass up some a wonderful day. I was happy to hear that Jenny was up for a hike, so we made our way up Mt. Victoria instead of the gym; ate lunch half way up, and enjoyed some time walking on new paths.

On the way to the top on some of the new paths there were a few trees that had fallen over. Some of the trees were of large girth, and appeared to have slid right out of the side of the mountain, possibly due to erosion. I snapped a picture of one of the trees with my camera phone, when I get a chance to setup the gallery I will upload it.

I read some of my friend's Ben's blog today. Some of his flickr pictures from his mobile blog are great. I really liked the picture of the bottle opener mounted in a bathroom near the tub.

Oh and in case you didn't know, the weekly world news has stated that doctors have recently put a USB and serial port into the back of someone's head...
